The Inspiration:
Vera Wang Spring Bridal 2014
This silk V-neck gown is my favourite pairing of the black leather gloves. I think that it's the sheen on the fabric and the simplicity of the silhouette that works so well with elongated, sleek gloves.
This gown reminds me of a fairytale heroine. Sweetheart neckline, tulle skirt, unkempt hair and regal gloves. Cinderella, take note.
Sexy shoulders. The cut of this crew neck t-shirt and the height of the elongated gloves leaves just enough bare skin to evoke a sense of mystery and sex appeal.
Here again, bubble lace forms a high neck t-shirt that soffens the v-neck. The sleeveless cut is the perfect compliment to high rise gloves.
Love the contrast here. Black stitched bodice against a satin faced organza skirt in light ivory. The volume and positioning of the skirt low on the hips brings a refined look to the traditional ball-gown style.
I am drawn to the boldness of the rose-shaped Chantilly lace accents on this gown. It oozes femininity and I would love to see the nude colour palette on a bide with darker skin also.
I have always been impressed with designers and bloggers who can clash prints well. In this case it is two different lace patterns which clash but somehow bring symmetry between the black and white sections of the gown. If you are a little hesitant toward high contrast back and white, this gown would be the perfect way to embrace the trend in a more subdued way. I hope that our look books, combined with Vera's stunning collection have inspired the latest wave of brides to embrace their darker side on their wedding day. There is certainly something to be said for a designer who executes a somewhat 'non-bridal' colour choice in a striking and fashion forward way. But would we expect anything less from Vera?
To view Vera Wang's spectacular gowns make an appointment with her Sydney boutique.
I would love to hear how you plan on incorporating black in to your wedding day.
